How long is this course?

This course comprises:

a) 16 hours – asynchronous instruction

Asynchronous sessions are composed of:

  • One video of up to 60 minutes delivered for every session (see program below);
  • One asynchronous task to be completed.


b) Face-to-face instruction

  • The tutor will schedule a monthly face-to-face meeting with participants in order to offer them a chance to practice language seen in the recordings and solve doubts.

     

    Recordings are delivered via Google Classroom

About this course

  • This course offers English teachers an in-depth exploration of systems of the English language, providing them with the knowledge and tools to effectively teach these topics in their classes. By covering topics such as Grammar, Lexis, Phonology and Linguistics, this course also aims to develop the teacher's own language awareness and equip them with practical tools for the classroom.

  • Session 6: Syntax: Phrases (Noun and Adjective)
  • Session 7: Syntax: Phrases (Adverb and Preposition)
  • Session 8: Grammar: The Subjunctive
  • Session 9: Phonology: Stress
  • Session 10: Lexis: Figurative Language
  • Session 11: Phonology: Connected Speech
  • Session 12: Grammar: Inversions
  • Session 13: Grammar: Emphasis
  • Session 14: Syntax: English Sentence Structure
  • Session 15: Syntax: Information Packaging
  • Session 16: Face-to-Face Meeting

Course Investment for 2026:

Technical Requirements

Every course participant must have: 

  • A desktop or laptop computer connected to a high-speed internet connection, equipped with a camera and microphone;
  • A Gmail account is required to have access to Google Classroom;
  • 3G and 4G connections, as well as the use of phones and tablets are not recommended.

Course Tutor

Rodrigo Sigoli has been in ELT since 2006, as an English teacher, Teacher Educator, Conference Speaker, Director of Studies and Cambridge English tutor.

He is a TOEFL and TOEIC certified exam administrator and has also been a Cambridge English Speaking Examiner since 2012 for levels Pre-A1 to C2. 

Besides his degree in Languages, he has been awarded multiple certifications by Cambridge English: the C2 Proficiency (2011), the BULATS (2012), the CELTA (2013), as well as Train the Trainer (2019) and the CertPT by Trinity College London (2023).
